1. Set Up the Game: Place all 144 Tiles face down and mix them Up. Each player should have 16 Tiles in front of them.
2. The Wall: Build a wall of Tiles, 17 Tiles high and two Tiles wide.
3. Deal the Tiles: Each player should take Turns drawing Tiles from the wall. The player who draws the last tile is the East Wind and will go first.
4. The Gameplay: The Goal of the game is to create sets of 4 Tiles, either a pung (three of a kind), a kong (four of a kind), or a chow (a sequence of three Tiles in the same suit). The East Wind goes first and takes his Turn by drawing a tile from the wall and discarding a tile from his hand. The other players then take their Turns in order of the winds: South, West, and North.
5. Going Out: When a player has 14 Tiles in his hand and has formed a valid set of 4 Tiles, he can declare Mahjong and go out.
6. ScoRing: After a player goes out, the other players calculate their scores. The player who goes out is awarded a bonus of 8 Points and the other players are awarded Points for any sets they have made. The game is over when one player reaches a score of 16 or more.
