1. Set Up the Board: Checkers is played on an 8x8 board, with alternating dark and light Squares. Place 12 pieces on each side of the board in the three rows closest to each player. The pieces should be placed on the dark Squares Only.
2. Determine Who Goes First: The player with the dark pieces goes first.
3. Moving the Pieces: Pieces can OnlyMove Forward and diagonally one Square at a time. Players can move one piece at a time, and can move either their own pieces or their opponent's pieces.
4. CaptuRing Pieces: When a player moves one of their pieces to a Square occUpied by an opponent's piece, the opponent's piece is captured and removed from the board. Captured pieces are not reTurned to the board.
5. Kinging Pieces: When a player moves one of their pieces to the last row on the opposite side of the board, that piece is "kinged" and can move both forward and backward.
6. Winning the Game: The game is won when one player has captured all of the opponent's pieces or when the opponent is unable to make a move.
