Scopa is an Italian card game for two to four players. The game is played with a standard Italian 40-card deck, with cards ranking from ace to seven in each of the four suits.
Objective: The objective of Scopa is to capture the majority of cards on the table. A player captures a card by playing a card of the same value from their hand. If the player has multiple cards of the same value, they may capture multiple cards.
Deal: The dealer is chosen randomly and deals three cards to each player, one card at a time, and then places four cards face Up in the center of the table. The remaining cards are placed face down in a pile.
Gameplay: Starting with the player to the left of the dealer, each player takes Turns playing a card from their hand. The card played must match the value of one of the face-Up cards on the table. If the player has multiple cards of the same value, they may capture multiple cards. After playing a card, the player draws a card from the deck to replenish their hand.
If tHere are no cards on the table that match the value of the card played, the card is placed face Up on the table.
ScoRing: After all of the cards have been played, the player with the most cards captured scores one Point for each card captured. If two or more players tie for the most cards, no one scores any Points for that round.
The game continues until all of the cards have been played. The player with the most Points at the end of the game wins.
