How to play Katzenarzt?

Katzenarzt is a German card game for two to four players. It is played with a standard deck of 52 cards.

Objective:
The objective of the game is to be the first player to rid all of their cards.

SetUp:
Shuffle the deck and deal out all of the cards evenly among the players.

Gameplay:
The player to the left of the dealer starts the game by playing a card of their choice. The next player must then play a card that is either of the same suit or of the same rank as the card previously played. For example, if the first card is a Five of Hearts, the next player must either play a Five of any suit or a heart of any rank. If the player does not have a card of the same suit or rank, they must draw from the deck until they find a card that can be played.

If a player is unable to play a card, they must pass their Turn and the next player can play any card they choose.

The game continues until one player has no cards left, at which Point they are declared the winner.

Variations:
Some versions of the game allow players to play more than one card at a time, as long as the cards are of the same suit or rank.

Another variation is to have each player draw two cards at the start of the game and place them face down in front of them. These cards can then be played at any time duRing the game, but the player must reveal them before playing them.

Finally, some versions allow players to discard cards at any time, as long as they have at least one card in their hand.
