How to play Monkey Bridge?

Object of the Game

The object of Monkey Bridge is to score the most Points by collecting the highest number of Tricks.

SetUp

To begin a game of Monkey Bridge, each player is dealt a hand of 13 cards from a standard 52-card deck. The remaining cards are placed in the center of the table and form the stock.

Gameplay

The player to the dealer's left leads the first trick, and players must Follow suit if possible. The highest card of the suit led wins the trick, and the winner of the trick leads the next one.

At the end of each trick, the winner collects all the cards and places them face down in front of them. This is known as a trick pile. The winner of the trick then leads the next one.

When all 13 Tricks have been played, the player with the most trick piles is the winner.

ScoRing

At the end of the game, each player counts the number of Tricks they have won. The player with the most Tricks scores 10 Points, and the player with the second-most Tricks scores 7 Points. The remaining players each score 1 Point.

If two or more players tie for the most Tricks, they each score 10 Points.

Variations

THere are several variations of Monkey Bridge, including:

• Playing with a joker, which can be used as the highest card of any suit.

• Playing with a trump suit, which must be declared at the beginning of the game. The highest card of the trump suit will always win a trick, regardless of what suit was led.

• Playing with a “Monkey pile”, which is a pile of cards that can be won by the player who collects the most Tricks. The Monkey pile can be any number of cards, and the player who wins the most Tricks can take the entire pile.
