Lavania is a traditional card game from the Indian subcontinent. It is a variant of the game of Rummy, and is usually played with two to four players.
The objective of the game is to be the first player to get rid of all their cards by forming melds, which are combinations of three or more cards of the same rank, or SEQUENCES of three or more cards of the same suit.
To begin, each player is dealt 10 cards. The remaining cards are placed face down in the center of the table to form the stock pile. The Top card of the stock pile is then flipped over to form the discard pile.
The first player then draws either The Top card from the stock pile, or The Top card from the discard pile. They then check to see if they can form any melds with the cards in their hand. If they can, they can lay them down on the table. If they cannot, they must discard one card onto the discard pile.
Play then passes to the left. Each player takes a Turn in the same manner, drawing a card and either forming melds or discarding a card.
When a player has gotTen rid of all their cards, the game is over. The player with the lowest score (the fewest cards remaining in their hand) is the winner.
