How to play Hearts Connect?

Objective

Hearts Connect is a card game for two or more players. The Goal of the game is to score the lowest number of Points by AVOIDing taking Hearts and the Queen of Spades.

SetUp

Hearts Connect is played with a standard 52-card deck. The cards are shuffled and dealt out evenly to all players. The remaining cards are placed face down in the center of the table.

Gameplay

The player to the left of the dealer starts the game by playing a card from their hand. The other players then take Turns playing a card from their hand that matches the suit of the card in the center. If a player does not have a card of the same suit, they must draw a card from the deck in the center. The player who plays the highest card of the suit takes the trick. The player who takes the trick then leads the next trick.

Points are awarded for each trick taken. Hearts are worth 1 Point, the Queen of Spades is worth 13 Points. The player who takes the trick with the Queen of Spades is said to have "Shot the moon" and all other players receive 26 Points.

The game ends when all the cards have been played. The player with the lowest score wins.

Strategy

The key to winning Hearts Connect is to try and AVOID taking Tricks with Hearts and the Queen of Spades. If you have the Queen of Spades, you can attempt to "shoot the moon" by taking all the Tricks. This will give you 0 Points and all other players 26 Points.

Another strategy is to try and lead with low value cards, such as the 2 of Clubs, to force other players to take Tricks with higher value cards. This can help you AVOID taking Tricks with Hearts and the Queen of Spades.
