1. Begin by selecting the Correct patient for the injection. Look at the patient’s chart and make sure that they are eligible for the vaccine and that they do not have any allergies or medical conditions that would make the vaccine unsafe for them.
2. Prepare the injection site. Clean the area with an alcohol swab and allow it to dry.
3. Assemble the syRinge and needle. Place the needle onto the syRinge and make sure it is secure.
4. AdMinister the injection. Hold the syRinge like a pencil and insert the needle into the skin at a 90-degree Angle. Push the plunger slowly until all of the vaccine is injected.
5. Remove the needle. Pull the needle out of the skin and dispose of it in a sharps container.
6. Clean the injection site. Clean the area with an alcohol swab and cover it with a bandage.
7. Document the injection in the patient’s chart. Record the date, time, vaccine name, and dosage.
8. Monitor the patient. Observe the patient for any signs of an allergic reaction or other adverse reaction.
